Tuesday 12 April

At Sunflower Club we read numbers, made groups of objects and counted the objects.

Our one to one counting is very good.

The boys could also solve addition and subtraction problems in their head and show the working out with materials. Man they are clever!

We read a book about playing then put together a cut up sentence. Both boys like playing up a tree!

Tuesday 5 April

We have not had Sunflower Club for a few weeks due to Easter and 3 way Conferences.

Two new children started today so they made their flower to go on the wall.

We did a lot of counting today and made groups of objects. What a clever group of children!

We talked about how different letters grouped together make words. Every one could read some words on the back of the ABC card. We are learning to match the sound with the letter and the letter to a sound. This will help us with our reading and writing.

Tuesday 1 March

We did lots of maths learning at Sunflower Club this afternoon. We made 2, 3 and 4 element repeating patterns.

 

We can now make, read and continue repeating patterns.

Tuesday 23 February 2016

The 4 year olds at Sunflower Club today were hard workers today. They completed a sorting activity and used their great cutting skills.

We talked about Jumping Jim and practised writing the letter J on whiteboards. Everyone is getting much better at writing their names and holding pencils correctly.

It was great to have mums and dads helping out

We had one new person who made her sunflower to put on the wall. Good luck to the two boys who are starting school this week.

Tuesday 20 November

It is so lovely to be back at Trentham School after a term on sabbatical leave. I have missed the children so much at Sunflower Club. I am working hard to meet all the children who started in term 3 and to learn their names.

Today at Sunflower Club we talked about the letter P. We read a book called Pretty Patterns and identified pictures that start with a p sound.

We sorted pictures of children according to the pattern on their clothes. Were they wearing spots, stripes or flower patterns?

Sunflower Club,Tuesday 9 June

As a follow up to last weeks lesson on length, we completed a worksheet where we had to put some pictures in order from shortest to tallest.

There was great concentration cutting out the pictures and making sure we had put them in the right order.

Everyone is getting quite good at cutting out now.

We learn't about Impy Ink and practised writing the letter 'i' on whiteboards. We need to remember to go down when writing the letter 'i' and to put a dot on the top instead of a scribble.

Sam will be five next week. Have fun at your pirate party and see you at school.

Sunflower Club 2 June

We had three new children at the Sunflower Club today.

We read a story about Oscar Orange who works at the dock unloading cargoes of olives, oranges and otters.

The new children made their sunflowers to put up on our wall.

We put pictures of umbrellas, keys and socks in order from the shortest to the tallest. Everyone worked super well with their buddy.
